Leisure and Tourism
Fun for all the family
This theme is all about making Chippenham a great place to live and to visit – making the most of our natural beauty, proud heritage, events and amenities so that we can enjoy living here and the town can welcome tourists.
We believe Chippenham can be a centre for tourism with the delights of Castle Combe, Lacock, Biddestone and other villages, as well as Longleat, Bath and Stourhead in short distance. In fact, we think Chippenham can be a tourism gateway to the wider South West!
So, what’s the plan?
Our first job has been to enhance the riverside environment with a clean-up campaign, and plans are underway to make further improvements to access, fencing, facilities and features.
Tourist guides, nature walks and arts trails are being published to reveal the many hidden gems that can be enjoyed right on our doorstep
We’re also keen to improve our cultural offering through festivals, events, regattas and performances - and add to our excellent sporting facilities at Stanley Park and others.
Of course, if lots of people come to visit they’ll need somewhere to stay – so we hope to attract hotel and leisure investment to the town and support existing accommodation with marketing and training initiatives.
